9 Things You’ll Learn From TSD’s New Podcast, “This Week In Jackassery”

Shane BarnhillMonday,2 February 2015

Yesterday, while the rest of ‘Murica was preparing for the Super Bowl by stocking up on beer, ordering pizza and making guacamole, I sat down with Adrienne Boettinger to record the first episode of TSD’s new podcast, “This Week In Jackassery.” In this episode, Adrienne and I discuss the recent Bloomberg Politics/Des Moines Register poll about Iowans’ preferred GOP presidential candidates, the impact of Mitt Romney’s decision not to run for president, how Snapchat’s new Discover feature is driving us to drink, why Newsweek’s latest cover on sexism in Silicon Valley backfired, and more.

You can listen to the full episode above, but here are nine takeaways from the show:

1. Adrienne and I both foresee a Bush/Clinton matchup for President in 2016.

2. After 2+ years of working together, I still butcher Adrienne’s last name (It’s pronounced “BOT-inger” not “BET-inger.” Sorry Adrienne!).

3. We both see Rand Paul as a credible threat to outmaneuver Jeb Bush for the 2016 GOP nomination.

4. I seriously need to adjust the audio input for my microphone.

5. Mitt’s exit is Hillary’s gain.

6. Grits = yummy.

7. Sometimes Snapchat is just confusing for “olds,” even when it’s catering to them.

8. Ted Cruz hasn’t had any displays of jackassery in the past week, but you can bet the farm that they’re coming.

9. Newsweek‘s latest cover may seem like a big fat fail, but hey, when is the last time people were talking about Newsweek?

Fire up This Week In Jackassery now, and then hit up TSD, Adrienne and me on Twitter with your comments. And after you listen, please consider sponsoring the next episode of the podcast!
