Party In The USA

Party In The USA

The Snap:

If your definition of a party includes being detained in shoddy conditions while idiots demonize you, then we have got a celebration for you! Did you know that life on the U.S.-Mexican border is basically a party? That’s why tens of thousands of children are traveling alone on foot for days on end despite gangs, corrupt cops, hunger, thirst, and illness. According to the independent “think” tank, Center for Immigration Studies, and the genius politicians and pundits who support or are supported by them, President Obama is throwing a “border party” that is luring in scads of unauthorized immigrants. So bring the chips, salsa and of course the cerveza and let’s get our party on!

For those unfortunate souls recently tortured by the 24-hour “noose” cycle, you’re already aware that the epically historical defeat of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor by an immigrant-hating, frighteningly religious Brat means immigration reform is hopeless. This, despite the fact that original member of the Gang of 8, Senator Lindsey Graham, managed to win the primary election of a decidedly conservative state after campaigning in favor of immigration reform. Because apparently Americans hate immigration reform.

Except they actually don’t. No matter what wonks say, 62% of Americans want to give immigrants a pathway to citizenship and another 17% want them to become legal residents, according to a poll by the obviously left-wing, communist Public Religion Research Institute and the Brookings Institution.

But Americans’ political representatives apparently hate immigration reform and maybe even immigrants themselves. Sarah Palin took a break from her rigorous schedule of reality TV production and political pandering to warn of immigration reform’s imminent destruction of “Main Street” — flooding it with their willingness to take underpaying, ridiculously difficult, manual labor jobs that even the most unemployed Americans refuse to work. Crap, the House GOP hates immigration reform so much they won’t even give citizenship to immigrants who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Tens of thousands of children are fleeing war ravaged countries to save themselves and their families. They ride on the tops of trains, robbed and attacked by gangs. This isn’t happening in some distant time and place. It’s happening here. Children — some heartbreakingly young and alone — are being forcibly displaced from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. Given the choice between becoming a slave to drug cartels and gangs or getting themselves or their families killed, these children are fleeing to a nation that was built on the backs of immigrants.

When they get to the United States, they’re housed in cramped detention centers. Without their families, malnourished and emotionally destroyed, these kids are demonized and used as political pawns by scum-sucking politicians and pundits who know their party base is looking for someone to blame for their problems. So they serve them up these children.

Immigration services are overwhelmed and are unable to deal with the enormous tide of human misery and desperation willing to risk life and limb to get here. Thankfully, at least the Senate recognizes a humanitarian crisis when it sees one and is in favor of authorizing much needed funds to deal with the emergency.

As a nation, we spend $18 billion per year on border enforcement which is seemingly not enough to one of the idiots who briefly postured himself to become the new House Majority Leader, Representative Pete Sessions. His idea of immigration reform has become “border security, border security, border security.” When in all likelihood, the only long-term solution is to find a way to help broken and battered Central American nations to take their countries back from criminal forces. In the meantime, if one of the wealthiest and most developed nations on earth isn’t willing to help desperate and endangered children, then what the fuck do we stand for?
