The Snap:

We’ve already heard the title track to Morrissey’s upcoming album, World Peace is None of Your Business, and today we get another glimpse of the record with “Istanbul.” While you may have recently heard the song in its spoken form – and if you haven’t, you’re not missing much – the album version is much more enjoyable.

World Peace is None of Your Business is due out July 15th, and can be pre-ordered on iTunes.

The Download:

When the title track from World Peace is None of Your Business was released last week, I was kind of bummed. It’s not a bad song, but it also doesn’t play to Morrissey’s strengths. If anything, it’s a pretty generic anti-government rant that doesn’t surprise you, impress you, or leave you wanting more.

Thankfully, “Istanbul” is a completely different story.

It’s a bit more upbeat than the first single, and the song creates an exciting sound that was completely missing from the title track. The thumping bass pairs incredibly well with Morrissey’s legendary vocals, while the guitars manage to squeeze in few subtle solo’s here and there without drawing too much attention.

Nowadays, there’s no reason to expect anything but greatness from Morrissey. He’s consistently made fantastic music for the last 30 years, and I don’t see that changing with World Peace is None of Your Business.

You can listen to “Istanbul” below.

Take Action!
