Prepare Yourself for Record Store Day 2014

The Snap:

Record Store Day 2014 is officially taking place this Saturday, aaaand it’s kind of a big deal. Think Black Friday for vinyl enthusiasts.

And now that it’s being celebrated by thousands of local record stores around the country, nearly everyone will have access to a shop that’s participating in the festivities. Many bands have released one-day-only records to celebrate the holiday in the past, and 2014 is no different with an absolutely massive list of #RSD14 exclusives.

You can celebrate Record Store Day 2014 by visiting a participating record store near you.

As a newfound fan of the vinyl medium, I’m pretty excited to have Record Store Day here once again.

The list of participating artists covers nearly every genre, so if you’re into rock, pop, rap, the classics, or even Ron Jeremy discussing classical music by the piano, there’s an album you’ll enjoy.

I’m personally excited at the chance of picking up a couple of MGMT records, or the interesting selection of Nirvana singles available, or maybe live recordings of Tame Impala, or Cut Copy’s 10″ vinyl with ‘Like Any Other Day’, or possibly Skrillex’s ‘Recess’ cassette (Ok, I’ll admit it, I don’t even have a cassette player, but… I still want it).

Of course, the chance of getting the exact item you want is pretty small, as not every record will be sold at every store. And if you’re lucky enough to find a store that has what you’re looking for, they could be sold out before you even get there.

But that’s the fun of the whole thing, right?

Take Action!
