Band to Watch: Magic Man

The Snap:

Magic Man has been making some seriously good music since their debut in 2010, and the young Boston-based group is finally getting the recognition they deserve.

The up-and-comers will be getting tons of exposure this year from festivals like SXSW, Firefly, Boston Calling, and Savannah Stopover. They’re also currently touring the country with New Politics, and plan on releasing their full-length LP later this year.

The 5-track EP, You Are Here, is available to stream on Youtube or Spotify, and can be purchased on iTunes.

The Download:

If you enjoy the dreamy, electronic side of The Killers, you’re going to love Magic Man. In fact, some of the songs — like ‘Nova Scotia’ and ‘Texas’– could have easily been taken from a few of The Killers previous albums.

Yes, they’re that good.

However, Magic Man are a lot more diverse than a band “that kind of sounds like The Killers”.

Both of their hit singles, ‘Paris‘ and ‘Every Day‘, are super enjoyable up-beat tracks that raise the energy – and the number of synths – to create a very defining sound to the band. And lucky for you, the latter is currently available as a free download from the bands website.

It takes something special to instantly change the mood of the listener, and I haven’t heard a band that does it in such a happy and fun way since I reviewed Smallpools last year.

You can check out their EP below.

Take Action!
