The Snap:

Signal for Pilot, an alternative rock group from Long Island, are determined to bring the foundations of rock back into the modern world, and their debut album, Man Eating Shark, does just that. Featuring tracks that utilize both classic and modern sounds, the end result is a blissful combination that doesn’t fall into just one genre.

Man Eating Shark is available to stream on Spotify, or purchase the album on iTunes.

The Download:

There’s no category that Signal for Pilot fits into perfectly. Even the umbrella-genre of ‘rock’ doesn’t really cover every song on the album. In fact, the safest choice is simply ‘alternative’.

While each track on Man Eating Shark has a slightly different style, the quality and catchiness is consistent throughout the album. Listen to “Mr. Paroleone time and it’ll be stuck in your head for the rest of the day — just try to prove me wrong. It’s no surprise that the song is on the verge of breaking out, as it captures everything that Signal for Pilot does so well — high energy music, solid lyrics, and a sound that tempts you to keep mashing the repeat button over and over.

Not all songs follow that same formula, though, and there’s definitely a few curveballs on the album.

Better Late Than Never” slows things waaayyy down, dropping the guitars for a solo piano session that’ll make you feel all emotional and squishy inside. But, it’s also one of the best songs on the album.

However, if you’re not in the mood to have your feelings consume you like a little 10 year-old girl, Signal for Pilot still has you covered.

Uniform” begins with a heavy guitar riff — just to let you know that this isn’t going to be a friendly song — and quickly leads into fast-paced vocals to create a sound that’s nothing but pure rock. Pumping out some crazy concoction of metal and alt-rock, the music is similar to Avenged Sevenfold, but, you know, a lot less annoying. And a lot better in just about every way possible.

Give Signal for Pilot’s Man Eating Shark a shot, you won’t be disappointed ().

Take Action!
