The Snap:

Indie rock group Warpaint are planning to release their upcoming self-titled album on January 21st, but the entire LP is available to stream right now (). Warpaint features both recently released singles — “Love is to Die” and “Biggy” — and continues to carry the sexy, slightly spooky, and ethereal sound that the band perfected on their debut album, The Fool.

Warpaint is available to be streamed at NPR.

The Download:

The band made sure to focus on the ‘sexiness’ of their sophomore LP, and they did a damn good job at it.

Just the album’s intro — which completely lacks vocals — manages to create an incredibly sensual vibe with only the percussion being used. And if you happen to let the intro roll into the first real track of the album, “Keep it Healthy,” you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.

Lead vocalist Emily Kokal definitely does her part to keep things sexy on stage, but that’s only part of it. The guitars, bassline, and drums all come together to contribute to the sensuality and softness of the band’s music. The album features an entire convoy of songs with dreamy, psychedelic beats and beautiful vocals that seem to linger in the air forever.

I was — and still am — a huge fan of The Fool, and I sure as hell didn’t expect their sophomore album to match the same level of quality, but… I was wrong. Very, very wrong.

Go stream Warpaint on NPR now, or, at the very least, check out the video below. You won’t regret it.
