ACTIVE CHILD SAMPLES A TUPAC TRACK WITH “TAKES ME BACK (UNTIL THE END OF TIME)”

The Snap:

Coming just one month after his “Rapor” EP, Active Child has released a single that samples the instrumental version of Tupac’s “Until the End of Time.” The track stays away from the indie-pop styling of “Rapor,” and sees the artist go back to his previous — and welcomed — sound.

The Download:

I never understood all the negativity that “Rapor” received. It’s different from his older music and is definitely more pop-inspired than anything he’s done before, but it’s far from bad. “Silhouette” alone keeps the EP from being ‘bad’, and the alternating vocals between Ellie Goulding and Active Child are simply stunning to hear. “Subtle” is another track from the EP that should not be overlooked. Featuring a fast pace and a very liberal use of synths, it falls into a genre that Active Child doesn’t regularly visit, but when he does, he does it just as well — if not better — than everyone else.

I would recommend giving “Rapor” a listen if you haven’t already — it’s available on Spotify — and judge for yourself.

I never imagined Active Child’s vocals would be recorded on top of a Tupac song, but “Takes Me Back” does just that — and it sounds awesome. He made the song for fun after he “randomly came across an instrumental of one of [his] favorite posthumous 2Pac releases,” which then transformed into “a rough song of sorts”.

But, for a “rough song”, it’s pretty damn smooth. Let’s hope he  continues to carry this creativity into his next full-length LP.

Take Action!
