The Snap:

Paul McCartney just released a music video for “Queenie Eye,” a sprawling track off New, his latest album. You can snag New here.

McCartney teased us with this preview on Monday, which features Johnny Depp listening to the track on an iPod (with the volume loud enough to inflict permanent damage on his previous little ears). The video itself defines “star-studded” — take a look below to enjoy a beautiful song and a lot of familiarly famous faces.

The Download:

I don’t know about you guys, but I have been loving Paul McCartney’s recent stuff. Don’t burn me at the stake for saying this, but I have never been a gung-ho Beatles fan. I like “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” or “Let It Be” as much as the next person, but they just aren’t my bread and butter.

But Paul is killing it! New has that perfect blend of iconic, retro sound with a newfangled twist. “Queenie Eye” has the same poetic (albeit quirky) lyrics that made the Beatles so iconic, and it envelopes the listener until they’ve listened to it over and over ten times without even realizing that they hit the “repeat” button.

So basically we’ve got an impromptu song session spearheaded by Depp and McCartney, as he records his new song at Abbey Road Studios. This inevitably turns into a rollicking dance party attended by Jude Law, Kate Moss, Tracey Ullman, Jeremy Irons, Tom Ford, Sean Penn, Chris Pine, and the goddess Meryl Streep (and a generous dollop of other actors, models and musicians).

It’s quirky and more than a little campy, but it has an infectuous energy that makes the whole over-staged production a lot of fun to watch. If you’re really curious, you can take a look at the “Making Of” video afterward.

Take Action!
