The Snap:

While there have been a few minor distractions during Fiona Apple’s nationwide tour with Blake Mills, most of the shows are going off without a hitch. The latest new track to appear on the pair’s set list is “Tipple,” a folksy acoustic display of talent from both Apple and Mills.

The duo will continue touring throughout the month of October.

The Download:

Fiona Apple’s current tour with Blake Mills is apparently amazing when she’s on stage, and although a concerned fan may have ruined her show in Portland, there’s no reason to assume that Fiona Apple isn’t back for good.

The duo flaunted “I Want You to Love Me” last week, a new song that features a whimsical piano tune accompanied by Apple’s distinctive passionate vocals. And now we have “Tipplea track that drops the piano for a guitar, and introduces a folksier, jazzier influence. The way Mills and Apple interact with each other is starting to take on a shape of its own – and it sounds very promising.

Last year’s The Idler Wheel album was one of the best of 2012, and Apple’s current on-stage performances give us hope that she’ll stick around long enough to make another record. Although at her current pace – 4 albums in the past 17 years – I wouldn’t count on a new release for quite some time.

And while it’s very unlikely, a collaborative album – or, at the very least, a higher quality recording of a performance – would be amazing, since the songs currently sound like they were recorded with a cell phone in the middle of a hurricane.

But for now, as long as she’s making music in some shape or form, I’m happy.

Take Action!
