THE KILLERS ANNOUNCE GREATEST HITS ALBUM, NEW SINGLE

The Snap:

In celebration of the band’s 10th anniversary, The Killers will be releasing a greatest hits album entitled Direct Hits. Also included in the collection is Shot at the Night, the new upbeat single done in collaboration with M83’s Anthony Gonzalez.

Direct Hits will be out November 11th, and Shot at the Night is currently available on iTunes.

The Download:

It’s hard to believe that Mr. Brightside and Somebody Told Me are nearly ten years old now, but the band has only gotten bigger and better since their debut album. The Killers have absolutely dominated alt-rock since 2004, and the greatest hits album displays that perfectly.

Placing Shot at the Night directly into the greatest hits collection was a ballsy move by the band, but it paid off and the new single is definitely good enough to be there. The track sounds exactly like you would imagine The Killers and M83 would sound together – a bit spacey and electronic – but still very much in The Killers wheelhouse, and still very good.

Scanning through Direct Hits track list is impressive – it’s easy to forget how many great songs the group has released in the past decade. While each album is represented in the collection to some degree, it should come as no surprise that a good portion of the songs come from Hot Fuss and Day & Age

The track selection is fairly good, and even though a few songs certainly got snubbed from the album (*cough* Bones *cough*), it’s still a great collection of music that is certainly worth picking up.

Take Action!
