The Snap:

Today is Thursday, September 5th, and tonight we get the first NFL game of the season. Baltimore will go to Denver for the season opener.

The Download:

I maintain that today is the best day of the year. It is the start of pro football. After the NFL combine, the draft, the OTA’s, mini camps, training camp and the preseason games, we finally have live football. Real games that count. We enter 17 weeks of football. Thursday night games, Sunday games, capped off with Monday Night Football. For 17 glorious weeks, over which, my completely objective prediction is that the Giants will go 15-1. I don’t think I want them for go 16-0; after all, the last team that did that was New England and they ended the year 18-1, with the 1 loss being to the Giants in the Super Bowl. So 18 wins and one GIANT loss. Regardless, today every team has a shot. OK, maybe not everyone — Looking at you Rex Ryan and the New York Jets.

From a fantasy football perspective, every owner still has a chance. Everyone is 0-0. Everyone thinks that they killed their draft and clearly are the best team in the league. I have 2 teams and think I am in good shape in both of them. This is despite a grade of C- in the Yahoo League. I maintain that their scoring predictions are wrong . How can they assume that David Wilson, the starting running back for the Giants, who we have already established will go 15-1, is only going to rush for 385 yards this season? Or that Kenbrell Thompkins, one of the starting wide receivers in New England, is going to catch 0 passes for 0 yards? See it is Yahoo’s predictions that are flawed, not my team. My team is perfect. At least right now. And that is why today is the best day of the year.

Take Action!
