ARCADE FIRE IS AT IT AGAIN: NEW ALBUM COMING

The Snap:

The wait is almost over. Last week, Arcade Fire announced via Twitter that they set a release date (29 October) for their upcoming album. There’s not much other information on the as-of-yet-unnamed record, but a concrete day is a step in the right direction. Fans have had a long wait since 2010’s The Suburbs, which snagged the coveted “Album of the Year” award at the Grammys.

The Download:

Arcade Fire marches to the beat of their own drum, and I love them for it. Take how they decided to deliver news of the release date, for example: Random dude tweets, “you’re my favorite” >> they respond, “Thanks. Our new album will be out on October 29th.” With the response comes some strange infrared/collage/photo. Do I understand it? No. But I love it nonetheless.

We don’t know all that much about “operation unnamed album.” In December, Arcade Fire performed a super-secret show in Montreal, where they unveiled some new tracks. Super-secret actually might be an understatement: performing under the alias Les Identiks, they had a strict no video/phone/photo policy that effectively prevented any of the songs from leaking into the outer world. @Arcadefiretube reported: “New songs generally described as fun, dance-y and groovy. Blowing off some steam from the studio recording sessions?” Whether these tracks will populate the new album…. well, I guess we’ll have to wait until 29 October to see.

New material from Arcade Fire has been few and far between — this crappy video released back in October practically felt like gold — so fans should all start a countdown to the big October date. It’s gonna be a good one.

In the meantime, enjoy one of their finest songs from The Suburbs below.

Take Action!
