THE THERMALS RELEASE VIDEO FOR “SUNSET” FROM “DESPERATE GROUND” ALBUM

The Snap:

The Thermals released their sixth studio album last month, Desperate Ground, and have given us a video for Sunset, the second single from the release. It’s a pretty interesting video, as it’s not everyday that you get a first-person perspective of getting knocked out by a female bassist.

The Download:

The video for Sunset – the best song on the album – features bassist Kathy Foster doing her own interpretation of training for a boxing match. Even though she decides to incorporate some unnecessary moments of awkward dancing, she’s a pretty badass chick (who could probably beat me up), so I’m not going to critique her form or technique inside the ring.

The song comes from the group’s latest album Desperate Ground, a solid follow up to 2010’s Personal Life. In fact, it’s better than its predecessor in just about every way. It’s packed with catchy songs that continue with the repetitive, unoriginal rhythms  that we’ve come to expect from The Thermals. While not exactly introducing many changes for the band, if you’ve enjoyed the older albums, you’ll enjoy this one, too.

Shortly after announcing Desperate GroundBorn to Kill emerged as the first single from the album. Joining the song Sunset as the two tracks that shine from the collection, The Thermals chose their videos well, as the rest of the album seems to lack any real ability to stick.

You can stream Desperate Ground on Spotify, and watch the video for Sunset below.

Take Action!
