TIME TRAVELERS RELEASE STORMALONG, AND HERE’S WHY YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO IT

The Snap:

Brooklyn-based band Time Travelers are releasing Stormalong, via digital download on 21 May. This is the their third EP. You can listen to Bed of Roses and Vacationland on the band’s Soundcloud.

The Download:

Time Travelers is the moniker for Ben Latham, Edward Sturtevant, Andrew Wilcox, and Alex Koster, four buddies who met while attending college up in Maine. Individually, each member is an impressive musician — but together, they are a force. The band released their first EP, aptly titled Vacationland, back in 2012. Do yourself a favor and listen to “Abalone” and “Ten Counting.”

But its when you listen to these guys live that you can truly appreciate that they’re the “real deal.” Buzzchips also did a cool live session at the band’s Brooklyn apartment, where you can admire their appreciation for N.C. Wyeth, piñatas, and beer. More importantly, you can grasp how talented The Time Travelers are. Ben Latham is drumming against a guitar case; bassist Andrew Wilcox, guitarist Alex Koster, and vocalist Edward Sturtevant are crammed together on a tiny couch. Despite the unconventional surroundings, each member exudes undeniable talent that makes you wonder: What’s next for these guys?

Although the Time Travelers are just tapping into their full potential, they already have a devoted fan base that seems to explode in size daily. It’s not that much of a mystery why — each of the four members is devoted to showing their listeners a good time and bringing a tangible personality to all of their songs that proves to be infectious.

Stormalong is a testament to their ability. Every song is an intoxicating blend of elegantly memorable lyrics coupled with beautifully complementary instrumentals. These are the types of songs that elicit a spectrum of emotions in a matter of two minutes – and that’s a rare feat indeed. Be sure to listen to “Adelaide” and “Turning” (but you should really just listen to all of them, repeatedly).

If you live in the tri-state area, make sure you see these guys perform soon. They regularly update their Facebook page with information on upcoming shows, which never fail to get a crowd dancing around and singing along (whether you know the lyrics or not).

Stormalong is available via digital download on Tuesday 21 May. In the meantime, snag their EP’s title track for free on Bandcamp — and prepare to hit your “repeat” button often.
