The Snap:

Finish off your weekend the right way with Django Django. David Maclean (brother of The Beta Band member John Maclean), Vincent Neff, Tommy Grace and Jimmy Dixon make up the band. The quartet, who met one another while studying at University of Edinburgh, have an awesome combo of alternative rock and dance beats; their songs are impossible not to tap your foot to.

Hop on it: Django Django is on tour in the States for the month of March before heading back to their native England. Their shows are selling out at an alarming rate (I was too late to snag tickets to their SF show – currently kicking myself) – so grab them while you can.

The Download:

These guys are fun. “Turn your bad mood into a good mood” fun. One of my favorite songs, “Life’s A Beach,” has the same effect on my as when the Beach Boys come on the radio. Django Django is forcing their listeners to have a good time — and they do an awesome job of it.

The band also has a pretty impressive track record. Within two weeks of the release of Django Django, their debut album, it had reached number 33 on UK charts. In 2012, they were nominated for the Mercury Prize (check out the live session — it’s great).

If you’re looking for a crash course in Django Django’s music, I’d recommend that you listen to “WOR,”“Default,” “Firewater,” and “Life’s A Beach.” Then listen to the whole album – it all rocks (I also really like “Hand of Man” and its strange music video). You can stream Django Django’s songs here.
