LADY LAMB THE BEEKEEPER RELEASES RIPELY PINE

The Snap:

Have you listened to Lady Lamb the Beekeeper yet? Ripely Pine, her debut album, came out a few weeks ago – so if you’re new to the creative musings of musical mastermind Aly Spaltro, listen to me: Stop everything and go enjoy this album.

The Download:

Aly Spaltro’s sort of the package deal.. adorably charming, wildly talented, and the ultimate self-made woman.

On her website, Spaltro explains that she began writing songs while working at a movie rental store in Brunswick, Maine. If you haven’t had the pleasure of visiting this sleepy college town, you’re just going to have to take my word for it.. her songs ooze small-town poignancy that clearly hails back to her roots. When she self-recorded her first 8-track, Spaltro left the CDs on the counter of the movie store where people could snag them for free. She was afraid of criticism and left the album anonymous, with only an email address written on the cover to allow listeners to give her feedback.

Spaltro’s enduring humility does nothing to weaken her talent; in fact, the humble approach that Lady Lamb the Beekeeper takes to the music industry highlights the incredible genius that she is bringing to the table. She sounds just as awesome lounging around as she does in the studio. That’s a rare talent, don’t you think?

Her songs are an awesome blend of “easy listening” and “complex,” blending a clean sound with intense lyrics (and some pretty awesomely odd videos to go along with it – torture by pie, anyone?).

Lady Lamb the Beekeeper has a devoted following – and it’s growing. Any artist who can compete with music goddess Emmylou Harris is a person who’s going places – and Aly Spaltro is well on the road, already. Watch “Between Two Trees,” recorded at the beginning of Lady Lamb’s career, below.
