I wish the media would go back to reporting the news rather than trying to hype every event to drive ratings. There are events that truly deserve the hype and the storm should have been covered. The problem is that in the quest for higher ratings, everything has to the the biggest event of our lives! The storm that hit the New England was bad. Several feet of snow is nothing to laugh at and roads will be closed and travel will be difficult. It will not however be a life altering event. It is a snow storm in the New England. It is not Katrina destroying New Orleans. But since we live in a hype driven media feeding frenzy, it has to be hyped to the same degree. To see the degree of unessecary hype let’s review some of the great hyped stories of recent years: Balloon BoyBeyonce lip syncingThe Mayan Calendar and Tim Tebow in New York.

Did any of these stories have any effect on anyone’s life?
