Kicking it country style, the Friday music fest has a country-western twist mixed highlight with great vocals. Headlining the Main Stage is local favorite, Mogollon. They’re from the small Northeastern Arizona town of Overgaard. After playing at a few local gigs in their hometown, it was quickly discovered this band had major potential.  Mogollon has earned the reputation as one of the Premiere Country Rock Entertainment groups in the West and continues to keep their high standard.  Also performing is Jared & The Mill, another local favorite, formed in the summer of 2011 in Tempe, AZ. They are currently working toward their first full length album. This summer, the band launched their first tour through California and is scheduled to play at SXSW in March 2013. Rounding it out is one of the most entertaining and enthusiastic bands you’ve ever heard, Banana Gun. Their energy will grab you, regardless of their crowd or venue, people feel compelled to dance to their diverse sound, which ranges from 70’s rock, Bluegrass, funk, and R&B.

Friday night acoustic performers include: Adam Cost, Andrew Duncan Brown and Frequent Kings.

48 West headliners are the true leaders of the new school in music, Tomorrows Bad Seeds – an American rock and reggae band made up of 5 musicians from Hermosa Beach, California. Living in the fertile ground where the beach meets the street, Tomorrows Bad Seeds’s fan base is spreading like wildfire across the nation – making the band one of SoCo’s most viable and relevant bands today.  Since the band’s inception, they have shared the stage with the likes of UB40, Slightly Stoopid, Pennywise, The Wailers, and The Expendable. Over the summer, the band headed out to appear for their third time at the Vans Warped Tour and Cavootle stated they were voted “Best Artist Playing at Vans Warped Tour!”

Another Main Stage act for Saturday are AZ locals, The Wiley One, a band whose awesome music is a blend of acoustic, hip hop, reggae, blues and many other styles that fill the soul with a fun and relaxed vibe. The band started out in 2007 here in Arizona and today they have evolved into one of the most impressive bands in the Southwest! The Wiley One have been featured in many ad campaigns, TV shows, theme music for featured projects, as well as several local and national publications. Over the last two years they have toured around the United States performing on Main Stages for major music festivals and this year, they can add 48 West to their list.

Micah Brown is another super talented singer making an appearance on the Main Stage Saturday night. His music blends rootsy americana, folk, blues, and rock with a lotta soul, and a little reggae thrown in for good measure. His recognition has included “2012 Best Folk Winner” and “2011 Best Live Acoustic Winner” the past two years at the Orange County Music Awards in Anaheim, CA. Over the past 18 months, Micah had the honor of playing shows with a variety of renowned artists such as Coldplay, Incubus, Pennywise, The Offspring, Weezer, Ben Harper, Ziggy Marley, Sublime with Rome, and many more.  In addition to these rockers, The Veragroove brings their high energy, eclectic group of individuals with music in their veins to the Main Stage. Combining a wide range of influences, the boys from Tempe can take you for a musical ride leaving you breathless and wanting more.  The final band in the Saturday lineup is Doctor Bones, an avant-pop mixture of new wave and punk, with an ear for dynamic tension, emotional swells, and dance inducing beats. From a sold out September 2011 premiere to their critically acclaimed performance at the SXSW Arizona Showcase, Doctor Bones is arguably one of the fastest rising bands in the Southwest.

Saturday night acoustic performers: Danger Paul, Trevor Hedges from Sundressed, Travis from Japhy’s Descent, and The Hourglass Cats.

Each of the bands performing at the festival are talented and brimming with explosive energy, their live performances will rock the block. This is 48 West’s first year but excitement is building, the number of ticket-holders is growing, and more sponsors are coming on board to launch the inaugural event. You’re going right?
